SERVERS

The IMAP server is the server that Email Archiver contacts to obtain your email on your behalf. We list here some common servers. If your email address is not listed here contact your email provider. If you are still having problems contact our support.

Notes:

  • The IMAP username is generally your email address, but sometimes it’s something else, like the first part of your email. So for example Apple’s mail server likes you to simply provide the first part of your email. So if you have an iCloud or .mac or .me email (say) [email protected] you would enter examplename in the Username field in Email Archiver Pro.
  • By default the port is set to 993 if your provider requires the use of a different port, append it to the end of the IMAP server address with a colon. eg. imap.provider.com:143

IMAP server list:

Apple ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected])

Username:   examplename
IMAP Server:  imap.mail.me.com

Gmail

Username:   [email protected]

To archive your Gmail account using IMAP you would need to create an App Password:

PORTS

By default port 993 is used, if you need to specify a different port, add it to the end of the IMAP address like so (where 143 is the port):

imap.yourserver.com:143

SECURITY

By default all connections are established using TLS/SSL

If your current provider does not support connections via this method, we strongly recommend you switch to a provider who does support secure connections.

If you need to disable ssl/tls enter the following in the imap server box.

imap.yourserver.com:143:noTLS

Please note, you must include the port if you also need to disable ssl/tls. The default port for most insecure servers is 143.

The other encryption type is “Start TLS” this method  offers a way to upgrade a plain text (insecure) connection to an encrypted (TLS/SSL) connection instead of using a separate port for encrypted communication

imap.yourserver.com:143:startTLS
